Eco-Schools Green Flag award at Sharnbrook! We are so proud to share that our Sharnbrook nursery has achieved the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with distinction, for the third consecutive year! This award is an international accreditation that recognises young people's environmental actions! The programme itself empowers and engages children (as well as staff teams and therefore families) in important environmental issues, teaches great responsibility and generates a sense of community, as well as develops the skills and knowledge children need to play an active role in protecting our environment now and throughout their lifetimes! Congratulations to all the children and the staff at the nursery and a big well done to their eco-lead Daniela, for leading sustainable initiatives so wonderfully at Sharnbrook nursery! (The children and their families taking part in the 'Stay Active and Walk Together' event to raise awareness for plastic pollution) (The children learning about butterflies at the lavender patch) (As part of The Wildlife Trusts' 30 Days Wild challenge, the children learnt about pond wildlife through pond dipping, went on litter-picking walks and prepared some wildflower seed balls for their families) A snippet from Eco-Schools' feedback: "We love the range of activities that your Eco-Committee planned for delivery. The fact that they cover both indoor (reducing single-use plastics such as cling film, artivism, reducing food waste, and doing clothes, wellies and book swaps) and outdoor (making bug hotels, log piles and hedgehog homes, creating a bee corridor and a mini pond, planting wildflowers and composting food waste) activities is excellent."
