About our Nursery

Our nursery at Burton Latimer is the largest in the Acorn group.

We offer full and part-time care for up to 93 children from the age of four months to four years, and are open from 7.15am to 6.15pm, Monday to Friday, all year round.

All Acorn nurseries are closed for all bank holidays, between Christmas and new year, plus our four training days each year. This means that monthly fees for 2024 are calculated over 49 weeks. You will not be charged for these days, however fees are payable for additional closure days which are out of our control, eg: additional bank holidays over the standard eight.

The nursery is on a half-acre site, adjacent to the football club and sports field; it is purpose-built with large and airy rooms and underfloor heating. The nursery offers light, spacious rooms and an extensive outdoor play area for both our Acorns (under 2’s) and our Squirrels and Oaks (over 2’s). Outdoor play is a key aspect of Acorn’s ethos and the children benefit from spending time outdoors every day, whatever the weather. Pre-school children enjoy Forest School sessions in an area of the garden and also further afield with our in-house Forest School leader, Carly.

Our menus have been carefully planned to be both seasonal and nutritionally balanced and tasty ensuring we have clean plates every time! Our cook  prepares all the nursery meals and snacks onsite each day providing nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetizing. We only use fresh, local, ethically sourced produce to create our delicious meals. We can accommodate most dietary requirements and have won several awards for our food.

We are very lucky to have a beautiful and extensive outdoor area, and we have pet chickens who roam freely in part of the garden throughout the day, enabling the children to collect eggs and then take turns to take eggs home. We also have outside providers that join us to enhance our range of activities, currently we provide music sessions with Kapow, and football sessions with our neighbours, Kettering Town Football Club.

We strive to make our nursery a place where positive and close relationships with children and parents are welcomed and valued. We believe it is important to create a home from home experience where children feel happy, safe and secure, and as a result, thrive within our nursery.
