Spring Training ’26 A Celebration of Learning, Connection and Shared Purpose At Acorn, investing in the growth and wellbeing of our people isn’t just something we do, it’s a core part of who we are. This February, that commitment came to life across two inspiring staff training days. On 18 February, teams from Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Emberton gathered for a day filled with hands‑on learning and meaningful conversations. The following day, on 19 February, colleagues across Milton Keynes united for their own uplifting programme of workshops and connection. Across both days, the atmosphere felt warm, energising and full of curiosity, a true reminder of how powerful it is when our teams come together with shared purpose. Bringing Learning to Life Across Our Regions From the moment staff arrived at their morning venues, the focus was clear: offering high-quality, practical training that makes a real impact in day‑to‑day practice. Whether colleagues were joining outdoor workshops, honing their safeguarding confidence, deepening their understanding of early development, or exploring creativity through hands‑on activities, every session reflected Acorn’s values of care, curiosity and child‑centred practice. Outdoor learning shone across both days. In Northants, Chris Knight led an energetic session on building natural shelters, while Donna and Gemma inspired practitioners with introductions to woodwork and forest school activities. In MK, Jubilee Wood transformed into an immersive forest school experience, reminding staff of the magic that unfolds when children, and adults, explore nature together. Inside the nurseries and training rooms, teams strengthened vital knowledge in SEND, compliance, health and safety, safeguarding, allergy awareness and the revised inspection framework. Trainers such as Ellie Collar, Kim Langstaff, Amy Sinnamon and Laura Tingey shared their expertise with clarity, warmth and a deep sense of purpose. Across both days, specialist sessions on science, maths, gardening, eco‑friendly practise and creative environments offered fresh ideas and practical inspiration for every age group. Longstanding Acorn trainers like Becky Watanabe and Kirstine Beeley brought enthusiasm and insight that left practitioners buzzing with new approaches to try. Connection, Conversation & Community Lunch provided a chance for teams to recharge and connect. Swapping stories from the morning sessions, laughing together, and preparing for an equally enriching afternoon. The buzz of conversation was a quiet but powerful reminder of what makes Acorn special: a community of people who genuinely care about their work, their colleagues and the children they support. Growing Together, Moving Forward As the final sessions ended and staff headed home, the sense of collective achievement was unmistakable. These two days weren’t just about mandatory training or skill-building, they were about celebrating our people, strengthening our shared values, and ensuring every colleague feels confident, supported and inspired. Thank you to every trainer, practitioner, manager and team member who contributed to making these days so impactful. Together, we continue to grow. For ourselves, for each other and for the children and families we serve. As we look ahead, we’re excited to share that our next training day will be the Acorn Annual Conference on 29th May 2026. A special moment in the year when all our settings come together under one roof for a day of inspiration, connection and shared purpose. We can’t wait to continue growing, learning and celebrating together there.
