Shenley nursery proudly celebrated a remarkable milestone, 30 years of caring for children and supporting families within the Shenley and wider Milton Keynes community. The anniversary event brought together generations of Acorn families, and the nursery was filled with a wonderful mix of familiar faces, new families, and long‑standing supporters who have been part of our journey over the decades.

From the moment the doors opened, there was a warm buzz of excitement. Former staff members, including some who worked at Shenley when it first opened its doors in the mid‑1990s, returned to revisit the place where they forged lifelong memories. Parents and children, past and present, joined us for an afternoon of celebration, reconnecting with old friends, sharing stories, and reliving moments that shaped their early years.

The nursery team put on a fantastic array of activities for everyone to enjoy. Children took part in arts and crafts, forest school activities, and outdoor games. The sunshine even made a timely appearance, brightening the garden and creating the perfect setting for families to gather, laugh, and celebrate together.

Nursery Manager Helen shared what the day meant to the Shenley team:

“It was lovely to reminisce with old team members and to catch up with many children, who are now teenagers! As the nursery holds wonderful memories for so many people. The team here had a fantastic celebration, and I would like to thank everyone who came along to celebrate with us.”

One of the most touching parts of the afternoon was hearing stories from families whose children attended Shenley in its earliest years. Many remembered the close-knit community feel that has always been part of the setting’s identity, something that remains true today. Several past children, now young adults, returned to say hello and to see how the nursery has grown and evolved over time.

Shenley nursery holds a special place in Acorn’s history. As one of the first handful of nurseries to join the organisation, it helped to shape the culture and ethos that all Acorn settings carry forward today. For three decades, the nursery has been embedded in the local community, supporting thousands of children through play, care, and high‑quality early education.

Over the years, the Shenley team has continued to expand its practice, embrace new approaches, and maintain Acorn’s commitment to nurturing children as individuals, all while holding onto the warmth and family feel that families value so highly. The 30th anniversary celebration was a beautiful reminder of how many lives have been touched by the nursery, and how deeply connected it is to the families it serves.

As we look ahead, Acorn at Shenley remains committed to providing a caring, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children to learn and grow. This weekend’s celebration was more than just a birthday, it was a recognition of everything the setting has achieved and a heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who has been part of its story.

Here’s to Acorn at Shenley’s past, present, and future, and to the next 30 years of learning, play, and community.
