About our Nursery

Acorn at New Bradwell is a small and friendly nursery, situated in its own building within the grounds of New Bradwell School. It has its own enclosed playground and offers a range of fun and engaging activities, including Forest School for the Oaks children.

We offer full and part-time care for up to 33 children from the age of four months to four years and are open from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, all year round.

All Acorn nurseries are closed for all bank holidays, between Christmas and new year, plus our four training days each year. This means that monthly fees for 2024 are calculated over 49 weeks. You will not be charged for these days, however fees are payable for additional closure days which are out of our control, eg: additional bank holidays over the standard eight.

Our nursery is open plan, with a variety of different activity areas to support all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, providing a holistic environment which nurtures children’s curiosity and learning. We are very fortunate in being a small nursery, as it enables children of all ages to play alongside each other, with babies and toddlers being able to learn from the older children, while also enjoying their own space and time with their key person.

Younger children benefit from the support of the older children and the older children grow in confidence as they role model new skills.  The carefully planned environment enables children to keep the same key person throughout their nursery experience. The children's key person develops the environment and activities to spark the children’s curiosities and interests as they learn through play. In our safe and stimulating environment children develop into confident and resourceful learners.

Our menus have been carefully planned to be both seasonal and nutritionally balanced and tasty ensuring we have clean plates every time! Our cook Matthew prepares all the nursery meals and snacks onsite each day providing nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetizing. We only use fresh, local, ethically sourced produce to create our delicious meals. We can accommodate most dietary requirements and have won several awards for our food.

The nursery has a close relationship with the school; many of our children will join the school’s nursery class from the September after their 3rd birthday, and for these children we offer wraparound care (sessional care outside the times of the nursery class).  We also provide out-of-school clubs for children who attend the school: breakfast club and after-school clubs during term time, and a holiday club during most school holidays. These clubs operate from the school building. We also run a 16-place pre-school group, The Millers, in The Windmill Children’s Centre, for local two year olds who are eligible for funded nursery education.
